Acupuncture focuses on improving the well being of the patient as a whole and as such it can help people with a wide range of ailments.
The British acupuncture Council has compiled research documents into the effective treatment of acupuncture and currently lists a number of health conditions acupuncture can treat.
In addition the World Health Organisation (WHO) has a PDF of research (large file – see page 23 onwards) dedicated to Acupuncture, in particular they list the diseases or disorders for which acupuncture has been tested in controlled clinical trials:
Allergic rhinitis (including hay fever)
Induction of labour
Lower back pain
Malposition of fetus, correction of
Nausea and vomiting
Pain in dentistry
Periarthritis of shoulder

With considerable experience in the field I can be found on both the Zita West national network of affiliated acupuncturists, (the largest integrated reproductive health clinic in the UK) and on the Herts Acupuncture Childbirth Team (specialising in pregnancy, obstetric and fertility care).
The use of acupuncture in the treatment of fertility has grown dramatically in recent years.
It is used to treat both men and women, as its important to note that male infertility is a factor in 40-50% of cases.
Zita West describe how acupuncture has been shown to be effective in:
Regulating the menstrual cycle
Reducing stress by decreasing the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. High stress levels are associated with reduced chances of conceiving
Improving blood circulation to the pelvic organs, including the ovaries and uterus, allowing the reproductive organs to work to their full potential
Increasing blood circulation to the uterus ensures optimal endometrial thickness
Helping to trigger ovulation in some women with ovulatory dysfunction
Helping women with PCOS, endemetriosis, dysmenorrhea, pelvic inflammation
Improving sperm count, motility and structural abnormalities
Providing successful fertility treatment through acupuncture is something I strive for and find extremely rewarding because of the happiness it brings to patients.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is also known as cosmetic acupuncture. It is not a new fad, rather it comes from Chinese medicine which originated over 5000 years ago. It is a relatively painless, non-surgical method that may help reduce the signs of aging. It involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into parts of the face and body.
Kate has been taught facial rejuvenation by Jamie Hedger and Virginia Doran, two very experienced teachers and practitioners in facial rejuvenation.
